Running AW on a server (pc acting as a server)

Note: This post only applies to the Legacy database!

1.  If you install AW on a pc acting as a server and log in from another pc can the "server" be used for other functions while users are logged in?

2.  If the answer to #1 is yes, does having the database reside on the server use a license if no one is logged onto the database at the server?  I.E. if you have the database loaded on a pc and you have three licenses can you log in from three OTHER pcs as long as you are not actually logged into the database on the PC where the database resides?  For example load the database on PC #1, and log in from PCs #2. #3, and #4?

2. No, in this context having it installed on the 'server' PC does not "use" a license if no one is logged into the database on that 'server' PC.  Your example is correct, you can log in from PCs #2, #3, and #4 without problems.

IMPORTANT:  Do not load any AW software on the workstation PCs (in this example PCs #2,3,4)  You only want to create a shortcut on those PCs that points to the ApprovedWorkman.exe  file in the shared Approved Workman folder on the 'server' PC.  Also, you will want to be sure that the Approved Workman folder and its files and Data subfolder has security (and sharing) permissions set to "Modify" for all users on the workstations that will need access to the database.
