Since you DID create a backup just prior to trying the update, go ahead and select the option to Uninstall and then click through the installation wizard. Then, AFTER the installation wizard is finished what it thinks is uninstalling, exit the wizard and then run the updateAW###.exe file again to launch the same installation wizard AGAIN, and this time you should see the normal INSTALL screens (not uninstall or repair).
