Award Red Jewel 1 without completing 1:1?
« on: September 28, 2013, 11:04:09 PM »
Note: This post is applicable in the Cloud database's Windows App as well as in the Legacy database.

Is there a way to adjust the settings of a handbook to exclude a section from an award requirement?

Example: HangGlider Red Jewel 1:1 is bring-a-friend.  We allow our clubbers to complete this section at any time during the year, but I would like to award Red Jewel 1 & the pilot wings when Sections 1:2, 1:3 and 1:4 are completed.

Thanks!

Yes, by excluding that section from being a part of the Section Group. Here's how using the example you cited:

1. Open the Generic Handbook for HangGlider under Admin > Curriculum.  (In the Windows app, the Curriculum tab is under Admin > Systems Settings.)
2. Go to the second tab, "Units and Sections", and expand the nodes to see a list of all sections.
3. Find the row representing Red Jewel 1:1. Click the Group Name cell and press the Delete key to clear the current Group Name value of "Red Jewel 1".
4. Click the checkmark button at the bottom of the grid to post this change.

Now that this section is no longer a part of the group of sections that make up "Red Jewel 1", it will not be evaluated when determining what Award is earned when all of the sections within the group are completed.

Thanks, Rick.  I had missed step 4.  It's working perfectly!
