Can I use DropBox with Approved Workman?

This post applies to data for the Legacy database.

NO. DO NOT put your live Approved Workman folder under DropBox. The use of DropBox with AWdb is NOT supported and we will be unable to provide help if it is used for your live data.

It should be fine to place AWdb BACKUP files into a DropBox folder, but do NOT put your live data there.

The database is very "chatty" with disk storage and a significant amount of data is cached in RAM. There are way too many changes happening to multiple tables and indexes between hundreds of files with primary and foreign keys that MUST stay in sync.  It is very easy to corrupt the database files when trying to use something like DropBox.

I've seen several instances where strange things have happened when users were running their Approved Workman folder beneath DropBox: data seems to have disappeared, timestamps are suddenly off, backups or optimize won't run. Once they stopped using DropBox on their live database, the problems went away.
