Once you've
upgraded to version 3.3.9.9, all future updates will be
communicated and delivered using the new Check for Updates
feature within the AWdb application. To access
this feature, log into AW db and click
Help > Check for Updates and then follow the instructions
presented. |
|
Read this important
information that applies to ALL updates:
-
All updates must be
applied in the proper order, do not skip any.
-
You must log into the
database after each update to allow the internal processing to run before you
move to the next update.
-
If you are using the database Check-out/Check-in feature,
do NOT apply any updates or download a newer exe while you
have a Secondary database checked out, if you do, you will
not be able to check in the Secondary database.
(a) Instructions for updates that use the installation
wizard:
1. Log into the database and Create a backup file using the built-in backup utility
under Admin > Database Utilities. 2. Run the Optimize procedure under Admin > Database
Utilities. Then exit the database. 3. Click the appropriate link above and when you see the
File Download dialog, click SAVE. 4. When you see the Save As dialog, select your Desktop and
then click Save. 5. Once the download is finished, launch the installation
wizard by double-clicking the icon on your desktop
representing the update file you just downloaded. 6. Once the installation wizard is finished, start the
database and examine the login screen to confirm the new version
number. Log into AW and allow the internal
update processing to complete.
|
(b) Instructions for updates that do
NOT require the
installation wizard:
1. Log into the database and Create a backup file using the built-in backup utility
under Admin > Database Utilities. 2. Run the Optimize procedure under Admin > Database
Utilities. Then exit the database. 3. Click the appropriate link above (ApprovedWorkman.exe) and when you see the
File Download dialog, click SAVE. 4. When you see the Save As dialog, navigate to and select
your existing Approved Workman folder. (do not select the
Data folder). Click Save and you should get a warning
message about "...the file already exists, do you want to
replace it?" Answer "Yes". (if you do not get
this warning message, then you did not select the correct
location of your existing ApprovedWorkman.exe file.
The old exe must be replaced, so find where it is that you
did save it and delete it. Then try again to download
and save to the correct location.) 5. Once you have replaced your existing exe, start the
database and examine the login screen to confirm the new version
number. Log into AW and allow the internal
update processing to complete.

The chart at left displays the recent versions
of AW. To update your installation, review the information below and
select the update that is appropriate for your current version.
The Approved Workman Database is frequently
updated to bring you the latest enhancements and bug fixes.
Major upgrades usually require the use of an Installation Wizard to
deliver a number of new files, whereas minor updates may only
involve the replacement of your "ApprovedWorkman.exe" also
referred to as the "exe".)
